Questions parents often ask

FAQ about consultations and therapy

What happens during the free consultation?

We’ll start by listening. You’ll share what you’re noticing with your child—reading struggles, speech sounds, frustration with homework, social challenges, or anything on your mind. Then we’ll ask a few clarifying questions, explain how speech-language therapy can help, and outline possible next steps. You’re welcome to take time to decide; there is no pressure to book services.

Do we need a diagnosis or referral first?

No. Many families come to us simply because something "doesn’t feel right." We can help you understand whether a full evaluation is needed and discuss options with your pediatrician or school team if appropriate. If a referral is required for insurance, we’ll guide you through that process.

Do you work with children who have dyslexia and other learning differences?

Yes. We have specific training in language-based learning disorders like dyslexia. We support children who struggle with decoding, comprehension, following directions, and expressing ideas. We often collaborate with tutors, school teams, and psychologists to make sure everyone is working toward the same goals.

Do you offer teletherapy (online sessions)?

Yes. We provide secure teletherapy sessions for families across the state. For many kids—especially older children and teens—online therapy can be engaging and convenient. During the consultation, we’ll help you decide whether in-person, online, or a hybrid approach is best for your child.

How soon can we start if we’re a good fit?

After the consultation, if you choose to move forward, we’ll schedule an evaluation or first therapy session based on your child’s needs. In many cases, we can begin within 1–2 weeks, depending on your scheduling preferences and our current openings.

A short conversation today can make communication easier for years to come.

You don’t have to figure this out alone. Share your concerns, and we’ll help you find a clear, compassionate path forward.
