For the mom who has tried everything

Your child is bright. Their words just are not keeping up.

You see how hard your child is trying. Still, reading takes forever, homework ends in meltdowns, and teachers say things like “He just needs to focus” or “She will catch up eventually.” It is exhausting and lonely to keep advocating when you are not sure what is really going on.

At Chatter Bug Therapy, we specialize in kids who are:

  • Diagnosed or suspected dyslexia or other reading disorders
  • Hard to understand because sounds like /r/, /l/, or blends are tricky
  • Struggling to follow directions or express ideas in full sentences
  • Avoiding speaking in class or reading out loud
  • Coming home from school feeling “stupid” or behind

We look beyond grades and test scores to understand how your child processes sounds, language, and print—so we can finally match support to their unique brain.

Important: Dyslexia and speech difficulties are not a reflection of intelligence or effort. With the right kind of practice, most kids can make meaningful, measurable progress—and start to enjoy learning again.

Real-life wins for real families

What progress can look like for your child

Every child is different, but parents often tell us they notice:

  • Clearer speech so siblings, teachers, and peers understand them
  • Less fighting over homework and more independence with reading
  • Improved decoding, spelling, and fluency for dyslexic learners
  • Stronger vocabulary and sentence skills for writing and conversation
  • More self-confidence speaking up in class and with new friends
  • A calmer, more hopeful home environment around schoolwork

We track measurable goals and also pay attention to the small wins that matter most to families—like when your child proudly reads a bedtime story to you for the first time.

“She finally believes she is smart.”

“Before we started at Chatter Bug, my daughter would crumple up her worksheets and say she was dumb. Now she actually brings books to the car and wants to read signs out loud. Her speech is clearer, her reading is catching up, and she finally believes she is smart—because she is.”

— Mom of a 3rd grader with dyslexia

Words from other parents

You do not have to figure this out alone.

“The way reading was taught here finally made sense for our dyslexic son. Everything was broken down into steps and he was never made to feel bad for needing more time. His teacher has noticed a huge change.”

Questions parents ask most

FAQ about pediatric speech therapy & dyslexia support

If you still are not sure whether speech therapy, dyslexia support, or both are right for your child, your free consult is the perfect time to talk it through together.

How do I know if my child needs speech therapy, dyslexia support, or both?

Many kids with dyslexia also have a history of speech or language challenges, and some children with speech sound disorders later struggle with reading. During your free consult, we will ask about your child’s speech clarity, vocabulary, listening skills, and reading/writing. Based on that conversation, we will recommend an evaluation that can look at both speech and literacy so we do not miss anything important.

What ages do you work with?

We primarily work with children ages 4–12. If your child is slightly younger or older and you feel we may be a good fit, please still reach out—we are happy to let you know if we can help or refer you to another trusted provider.

Do you offer virtual (teletherapy) sessions?

Yes. Many families choose a mix of in-person and virtual sessions depending on their child’s needs and schedule. Teletherapy can work very well for older children and for reading-focused sessions, especially when parents are nearby to support.

Will this replace school services or tutoring?

We often work alongside school-based speech therapy, reading specialists, and private tutors. Our role is to provide targeted, consistent intervention and help you coordinate with the rest of your child’s team. During your consult, we can review IEPs or school reports and talk about how our work would fit in.

Do you take insurance?

Coverage for speech therapy varies widely. We can provide superbills for you to submit to your insurance company and are happy to guide you on what questions to ask. During your free consult, we will talk about fees, payment options, and how to make services as affordable as possible.
